ARHS Principal Brooke Matthews Receives Patriot Award from U.S. Department of Defense



Dorchester County, S.C. - Ashley Ridge High School Principal Brooke Matthews has received the prestigious Patriot Award from the Office of the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). This recognition is a testament to Principal Matthews’ commitment to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in the National Guard and Reserve Force.


"I feel it is my duty to support our employees that serve both the students of ARHS and our nation,” said Principal Matthews. “We are fortunate at ARHS to have employees dedicated to inspiring others through service.”


The Patriot Award recognizes employers who contribute to the national defense by supporting employee participation in the military. The award honors those who go above and beyond in their efforts to support military employees and their families. Principal Matthews was recognized for her unwavering dedication to her employees, who serve in the National Guard and Reserve Force.


This award builds on Dorchester School District Two’s designation as a Purple Star school district for serving the unique needs of children in military families and helping families to make smooth transitions as they move. The district is committed to ensuring that military children receive the support and resources they need to thrive in their academic and personal lives.
