DD2 Celebrates Student Excellence in Amazing Shake Competition and Youth Art Month

Dorchester County, S.C. - The Dorchester District Two school board recently recognized two outstanding examples of excellence within the district. Beech Hill Elementary is sending three students to the national stage for “The Amazing Shake” national competition through Ron Clark Academy this month. Xander, Amelia, and Ari won the BHES competition that tested students’ interpersonal skills such as selling a product they’d never seen, teaching a lesson, answering interview-style questions, performing a commercial script, and more.

The board also shared a proclamation to celebrate Youth Art Month. Director of Fine & Performing Arts Jason Walsh accepted the honor on behalf of the award-winning Dorchester District Two Fine Arts program. The community is invited to check out these showcases of our students’ talent. The DDTwo Fine Art Exhibit is on display until March 20 at Town of Summerville, SC Town Hall and in area businesses. On March 16 from 5:30-8:30 p.m., there will be live performances as part of the DDTwo Fine Arts Festival throughout downtown Summerville.

Both of these recognitions highlight the hard work and dedication of the students and staff within Dorchester District Two. The Amazing Shake competition helps to teach students valuable interpersonal skills that will be beneficial to them throughout their lives. The recognition of Youth Art Month showcases the incredible artistic talent within the district and provides an opportunity for the community to support and appreciate the students' hard work.

Overall, the district continues to strive for excellence in all areas, including academics, arts, and extracurricular activities.
