Dorchester County, S.C. - Four members of the DD2 School Board came together to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, an organization that provides affordable housing to those in need. School Board Members Kellie Bates, Ashley Wimberly, Barbara Crosby, and Cynthia Powell all participated in the volunteer effort.
Bates was particularly enthusiastic about the experience, stating, "Today was amazing! Every one of us has a heart to serve so there couldn't have been a better way for us to grow our relationships while giving back AND learning new skills. Knowing that the effort we put in is going to provide a much deserved home to someone was so rewarding. It's an honor to be even a small part of someone else's story."
The women all left the experience feeling fulfilled and eager to continue volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. "We walked away with our hearts full knowing we made a difference in someone's life. We will definitely be back!" Bates said.
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that has been providing affordable housing solutions to families in need for over 40 years. Through the efforts of volunteers and the support of local communities, Habitat for Humanity has helped more than 22 million people build or improve the place they call home. The work of these four School Board Members is just one example of the impact that can be made through volunteer efforts.
