Dorchester County, S.C. - Dorchester County Democrats participated in a food giveaway organized by the Community Resource Center in Saint George, SC on February 25, 2023. The giveaway aimed to distribute over $30,000 worth of nutritional groceries, hygiene products, and baby necessities to the local community.
Community Resource Director Louis Smith issued a statement promoting the event. State Representative Gilda Cobb Hunter, Dorchester County Democratic Chairman Richard Hayes, and State Representative Joe Jefferson were among the dignitaries in attendance.
Over 145 cars were served, and a total of 958 community members were impacted. More than 25 volunteers worked to make the distribution run smoothly, and over 2500 diapers and baby necessities were distributed, along with 175 large adult hygiene kits.
Louis Smith expressed satisfaction with the event's success and thanked the volunteers for their efforts.
