Dorchester County Plans to Sell Headquarters Land for $100M Mixed-Use Development

Dorchester County, S.C. - Dorchester County in South Carolina is planning to sell the land where its Summerville headquarters currently stands to a developer who will construct a new office building for the county as well as other amenities. The existing building, located at the intersection of North Main Street and Highway 78, will be transformed into a mixed-use development in a multiyear plan for the three-acre site. The development will include two new office buildings, a hotel, retail spaces, multifamily housing, and a 450-space parking garage.

What will happen to the Veteran’s Memorial in front of the site facing Main Street? Please don’t tear it down. Many Summerville families purchased the memorial bricks with the name and military affiliation of their loved ones as a way to remember and honor them. This Memorial is a part of our towns history too.
