Summerville, SC – The Dorchester County State Legislative Delegation is set to host a fundraising event, with Congresswoman Nancy Mace as the special guest next month. This event aims to garner support for several delegation members representing the community. The fundraiser is scheduled for Thursday, June 29, 2023, at the renowned Summerville Country Club from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The event seeks to generate vital financial backing for the local state representatives before the upcoming 2024 election cycle. State Senator Sean Bennett, State Representative Chris Murphy, State Representative Gil Gatch, State Representative Robby Robbins, and State Representative Gary Brewer, all key figures in the Dorchester State Legislative Delegation, will benefit from the funds raised during the event.
Notably absent in the invitation is State Senator Sandy Senn, also a Republican that represents part of Dorchester County. Senn has been embroiled in controversy with her own party over her recent vote against the Fetal Heartbeat Protection act. Her vote against the pro life legislation has earned her national media prominence over the past weeks on platforms such as CNN. Senn and her fellow female Senators have labeled themselves the 'sister senators', a bipartisan group of female senators opposed to pro life legislation. Senator Senn has also earned the ire of constiutients in the past for voting against the Open Carry with Training Act, and the Compassionate Care Act (Medicinal Cannabis).
