Former SC State Representative Mandy Kimmons Sworn in as Judge in Dorchester County

Dorchester County, S.C. - Former South Carolina District 97 State Representative Mandy Kimmons was sworn in as a judge in Dorchester County today in St. George. Kimmons served in the State House as a Republican from 2018 to 2021 before resigning in December 2021. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of South Carolina in 2005 and her Juris Doctor from the university's School of Law in 2008. Prior to her service in the State House, Kimmons served as an Assistant Solicitor in the First Circuit Solicitor's office.

Kimmons was appointed to the position of Judge of the Family Court for the First Judicial Circuit Seat 3. The investiture ceremony was attended by many of her former colleagues from the First Circuit Solicitor's office.

State Representative Chris Murphy of Dorchester County, a former colleague of Kimmons, attended the ceremony and expressed his pleasure at her appointment. "Mandy is an outstanding addition to the Bench," he said.

Kimmons' appointment to the bench is expected to be a significant asset to the Family Court system in Dorchester County. Her experience in both the public and private sectors, as well as her dedication to the law and to her community, will serve her well in her new role as a judge.
