Gov McMaster To Headline Dorchester GOP Stump Rally In Summerville Saturday

Dorchester County, S.C. - Governor Henry McMaster is coming to Summerville on Saturday May 14th for Dorchester GOP's first annual stump rally that will multiple candidates. Candidates will include Agriculture Commissioner Hugh Weathers, Secretary of State Mark Hammond, and Republican Candidates for Congress, Attorney General, State Superintendent of Education, State House, and County Council. The event will take place at Dorchester County GOP HQ, 104 N Magnolia Street Summerville.

Dorchester County Republican Party Chairman Steven Wright released the following statement:

“Republican enthusiasm is at a record high and the best evidence of this is 18 confirmed candidates speaking at our Old Fashioned Stump Rally. Over the last 15 months we have seen the consequences of failed Democratic leadership under President Biden, and the benefits of conservative Republican leadership under Governor McMaster. We look forward to positioning our party to make the maximum impact in the 2022 midterms, and Keeping Dorchester County and South Carolina Red!”

The event comes as further proof of the revitalization of the Dorchester GOP which most Republican elected officials have avoided for over 5 years. Governor McMaster is coming to Summerville on the eve of one of the most closely watched elections in South Carolina.

This coming Tuesday May 17th Republican Robby Robbins will take on Democrat ReZsaun Lewis in the State House District 97 Special General Election. With turnout expected to be low, and with the State Democratic Party Chairman coming to town to campaign and raise money for Lewis, local Republican leaders have united forces in an attempt to hold onto the seat they helped flip in 2018.
