Summerville, SC – In a momentous event for the Summerville Green Wave football community, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster joined fans, players, and coaches last night to commemorate the start of their 100th season. The celebration took place at Bud Knight's Party Barn, drawing a large crowd of supporters eager to kick off the new season with enthusiasm and pride.


Governor McMaster expressed his excitement and support for the Green Wave, stating, "With just a few weeks until the start of the High School Football season, I had the pleasure of joining the Summerville Green Wave football community last night to commemorate the start of their 100th season." Summerville High had an impressive 2023 season, finishing with a remarkable 13-1 record. The Green Wave made a deep playoff run, securing victories in three playoff games before a narrow 21-14 loss to White Knoll High School from Lexington in the final four.


As anticipation builds for the upcoming season, Summerville High Football is set to open on the road against Stratford High School on August 23 at 7:30 PM. The excitement continues with their first home game at McKissick Stadium on August 30, where they will face off against South Florence at 7:30 PM.
