Pet Food Shortages Could Last Into 2023

If you’ve been to the grocery store lately, you may have noticed a particular section growing increasingly short on supplies. Some of our furry little friends have had to say goodbye to their favorite dish.

A report done by the Wall Street Journal reports that pet food sales have grown 6.9% over the past 52 weeks.

This recent shortage has put quite a few pet owners in a difficult spot. During the pandemic, a growing number of people adopted pets, Increasing the number of people running down to the store to grab that big bag of kibble or that pack of Fancy Feast

In November, the J.M. Smucker company told retailers that shipments could be limited up to January 2023. The company cited issues with transportation challenges as well as supply issues.

The company also stated that they are working on expanding their suppliers and expanding production lines.
