Summerville, S.C. - The Summerville Boys basketball team secured a 62-44 victory over Fort Dorchester on Jan. 24, ending the first half of their region schedule.
With a 4-0 record in Region 7-AAAAA, the Green Wave currently hold first place in the region with a season record of 18-4. Coach David Long praised the team's hard work, stating that their region games are crucial and the team must bring their best performance.
Junior Yannick Smith led the game with 23 points, while senior Jai Chisolm added 12 and seniors Delvin Davis and Mike Jenkins contributed 8 points each.
The Summerville team only had a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter, but increased it to six by halftime and continued to outscore the Patriots in the third and fourth quarters. As one of the top-ranked 5A teams in the state, Summerville will host Stall on Jan. 31 and travel to West Ashley on Feb. 3.
