Summerville, S.C. - The Summerville wrestling team emerged as the Region 7-AAAAA champions after defeating Fort Dorchester 56-15 on January 25th. The win improved Summerville's record to 22-2 with a 4-0 mark in their region, securing the top playoff seed.
Coach Darryl Tucker said that wrestling in their home gym would be an advantage for the team in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
Summerville is set to face an at-large team on February 4th and will compete in the Lower State Championship on February 8th. Despite the loss, Fort Dorchester and the Region 7 runner-up, Ashley Ridge, will begin the playoffs on the road.
